Sylvain Augier, former journalist and television host, died on Saturday at the age of 68, his daughter announced to AFP on Tuesday March 19. The native of Toulouse, who presented “Faut pas rêve” and “La Carte aux Trésors” on France 3, was a face known to France Télévisions viewers since the 1990s. Sylvain Augier's assistant confirmed this information with France Télévisions, Tuesday evening.

The general public first knew him as a presenter, between 1990 and 1999 on France 3, of the magazine “Faut pas rêver” and its reports on exotic destinations. The show was created by Georges Pernoud, the father of “Thalassa”, broadcast just before.

Then he became the emblematic host of “The Treasure Map”, from 1996 to 2005, guiding the red and blue candidates from his helicopter through the landscapes of France, in search of clues leading them to a compass rose. The show made its return in 2018, with Cyril Féraud presenting.

He suffered from bipolarity

Besides the helicopter, the host was crazy about risky sports. In 1988, at the age of 33, a serious paragliding accident in the Hautes-Pyrénées almost cost him the amputation of a foot.

“He was our ever-joking Tintin reporter”greeted Tuesday, on the social networkthe host and sportswoman Nathalie Simon, who hosted “La Carte aux Trésors” from 2007 to 2009. “The disappearance of Sylvain Augier is a great loss for the Sud Radio family”a station of which he had been a host, reacted his colleague Cécile de Ménibus on.

In a moving book published in October, I am coming back from farSylvain Augier had recounted late, but unvarnished, his fight against bipolarity, this “formidable enemy”and a suicide attempt which he survived at age 55.
